A Caribbean boy’s journey through life taught Irwin Gould to look for the signs in everyday life. From a small island to the big screen, he learned that the world is constantly speaking to us.

What some call luck or coincidence is often a pattern—a gentle nudge from a greater plan. Irwin’s story shows us that we don’t need special powers to see these messages.

We just need to pay attention.

The signs in everyday life are there for everyone. They are whispers of guidance, moments of divine timing, and clues to our purpose.

What Are Signs in Everyday Life?

Signs are not always big, flashy miracles. Most of the time, they are quiet and easy to miss. A sign can be finding money on the ground when you need it most. Or it can be a chance meeting with someone who changes your path. It can also be a repeated number, a feeling in your gut, or an animal that crosses your path.

Irwin Gould’s life is full of these moments, these “miraculous interventions.”

For Irwin, these weren’t just accidents. After starting his cleaning business, Bubbles and Sudz Plus, he began to see a pattern. He would find money on the floor—$100, then $60, then $11—and each time, it would be followed by a meeting with a remarkable person or a profound life lesson.

“I began to see a pattern. When I find money, something special and unique is about to happen.”

This is the first step: noticing the pattern. These meaningful coincidences are the starting point for interpreting daily happenings.

Spiritual Symbols in Daily Routine

You don’t have to be in a church to see spiritual symbols, for they are woven into your daily routine.

For Irwin, a man of deep faith, the sunrise is a powerful symbol to always look out for. Therefore, every morning, he faces east.

“Light comes from the East each and every day assuring me and millions of others that the Son of Man will return as sure as the sun rises. I follow it daily.”

This simple act turns an ordinary daily event—the sunrise—into a sacred moment of hope and reassurance.

Another symbol he follows is the number 12. In his work van, he placed the number 12 and twelve feathers in the visor. Why?

“The number 12 has significance; it is mentioned in the Bible many times. There were 12 apostles; Jacob had 12 sons; there were 12 Tribes of Israel.”

The feathers are a reminder of two hawks he saw battling in the sky—a dramatic sign in everyday life that he felt was a message about the natural order of things.

By adding these symbols to his van, he surrounded his daily work with reminders of a bigger plan. These spiritual symbols in daily routine can help keep our minds focused on what matters.

Finding Divine Timing and Guidance

Have you ever been in the right place at the right time? That’s divine timing. Irwin’s big break in Hollywood is a perfect example.

He initially went to an audition for an Aerosmith music video. While standing in line, the famous director Michael Bay approached him, asking if he was there to audition for Bad Boys II.

Irwin, naturally, said no because he was there for the music video.

Yet, Michael Bay said he should audition for BAD BOYS II.

This chance moment changed everything.

Irwin got the part in a major Hollywood movie.

“I can only attribute this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity dropping into my lap to that of the providence of God and to being in the right place at the right time.”

He wasn’t even supposed to be at that movie audition, but a force greater than him guided his steps. This is divine timing and guidance.

Signs from People and Animals

Sometimes, the message is delivered by another person or creature. The people you meet are often signs in everyday life. Irwin once had a 100-year-old billionaire as a customer, who taught him about humility and hard work. The retired police officers, who served nearly 100 combined years without ever drawing their weapons, taught him about peace and service. These people appeared in his path as living lessons.

Animals can be messengers, too. Irwin vividly describes watching two hawks in the sky. One hawk dropped its prey, and another swooped in to catch it.

“I marveled at the scene. It was certainly unusual to witness such a performance in nature. It was a sign; I was sure of it.”

He saw it as a sign of nature’s law and divine order.

Even the sad eyes of a dog eating scraps from a trash can were a sign to him—a reminder of struggle and a call to be compassionate when he can.

What to Do When You See a Sign

Noticing a sign is just the beginning. The next step is to accept it and act on it. Irwin’s rule is to “follow the message.” If you find money and feel grateful, let that gratitude guide your day. If you keep running into the same piece of advice, maybe you should listen to it. If a chance meeting opens a door, dare to walk through it.

This requires faith. Irwin left home at 16, moved to New York, and pursued acting with no training. He faced rejection but kept going. He writes, “Remember, nothing worth fighting for comes easy.”

Trusting the signs in everyday life means believing there is a plan, even when the path is hard and understanding that “winters” of difficulty always come, but they are followed by “spring.”

As he learned when his work van broke down, a helping hand appeared (his “spring”) only after he endured the “winter” of being stuck.

Your Life Is Speaking to You

Irwin Gould’s journey from a Caribbean island to Hollywood shows that no life is too ordinary for extraordinary guidance. The signs in everyday life are all around you. They are in the sunrise, the stranger you meet, the money on the floor, and the challenge you face. They are in the meaningful coincidences that feel too perfect to be random.

As Irwin says, “We are part of the puzzle of life.” Your story is still being written, and every day gives you new clues. Pay attention. Follow the signs. Your path is waiting to be discovered.
